Forestry Committee

Goals
• To inform the community through research, education and demonstration that trees are a renewable, recyclable, natural resource

• To encourage watershed improvement and beautification through the planting of trees on public and private land

• To promote a viable, diverse and productive agro-forestry industry that generates jobs and provides biodiversity

• To promote and maintain a healthy and diverse forest environment through the identification and control of alien and invasive species (see KISC)

The Garden Island Resource Conservation & Development, Inc. supports these goals in a variety of ways including:

• producing a site-specific brochure for a forestry demonstration site planted in Kipu;
• developing a Forestry Committee agroforestry demonstration--a living laboratory—at Kaua`i Community College
• promoting certified training classes & workshops for landscapers under the tutelage of the Kauai Landscape Industry Council.
