Kauai Agriculture Development Program (KADP)

The Kauai Agricultural Development Program (KADP) is in its 4th phase of funding from an initiative by Senator Daniel Inouye, beginning in 2004.  Garden Island Resource Conservation & Development, Inc (GIRC&D) is the on-island community-based non-profit organization that administers the KADP funds.

The objective of this program is to support community-based and community-driven projects that promote agricultural development on the Island of Kauai.  The funding provided for this program works to sustain soil and water conservation objectives and enrich the resource capabilities of local farmers, ranchers and land owners.

In this phase, GIRC&D selected six (6) project applicants including; a taro farmer, cattle rancher, tobacco grower/cigar manufacturer, a lettuce farmer, coffee farmer and a group of papaya growers.  To learn more about the 2008 Projects (CLICK ON IMAGE TO LEFT).
